In 1994, one woman with a passion for baking and cooking brought her talents to Bernal Heights and opened The Liberty Café and Bakery. That woman was Cathie Guntli, and her ingredient-driven, seasonal menus made Liberty a neighborhood treasure and earned Liberty a place on the San Francisco Chronicle’s “Top 100 Bay Area Restaurants” list.

Although the years have brought plenty of changes, we keep our history close to our heart. Today, Liberty continues to bring seasonal California cuisine, world-class wines, and fresh-baked artisan breads and pastries in an intimate, cozy neighborhood setting in the heart of Bernal Heights.
