Lonnie's Best Taste of Chicago - Louisville, KY

When Lonnie and Diane opened their Chicago style eatery in Louisville, they had to change the culture of eating here. In Chicago, the hot dog is 'walking it through the garden.' All the things you might grow in your own garden, cucumber, tomato, relish, onion, peppers, celery salt, are put on the hot dog. Louisville wasn't used to eating cucumbers on a hot dog. Lonnie would often have to offer to "buy it back" if the customer didn't like it, just to get them to try something different. Lonnie hasn't bought one back yet.

Lonnie's Best Taste of Chicago has built an amazingly loyal following. Soldiers from Ft. Knox, a group from Indiana, people from Lexington and Paducah, all make the drive to Lonnie's because they can't get anything like it where they live.

Lonnie does have one request for his customers. Lonnie says it best, "I'm always trying to get my customers to try something new. The first time they come in, they fall in love with one thing and think there's nothing that could be as good. Everybody thinks that, no matter what they order."
