Saipin Chutima causes the name "Lotus of Siam" to stand out from other Thai restaurants through her distinct and authentic northern Thai style of cooking. Her Bankok style cooking also second to none has been called the "single best Thai restaurant in Northern America" by Gourmet Magazine.
Thai woman by tradition must learn how to cook. Saipin is no exception. She was first forced to learn to prepare meals since she was five years old under her grandmother Tha. Although her childhood dream was to be a stylist in a beauty salon Saipin's talent glowed under the direction of her grandmother. Further down the road she was accepted as an apprentice by the grandmother of her future husband, Anocha. She had begun to enjoy cooking for people and receiving the reward of a smile that she created on a strangers face.
In 2000, they purchased Lotus of Siam, a restaurant hiding in a strip mall just east of the strip. Since then her life has been as spicy as her chilli dip. Gourmet magazine called it the "single best Thai restaurant in North America". Saipin upholds the reviews with her rigorous kitchen schedule, preparing the classics from Thailand and mixing it up with new flavors for recipes for a nuanced experience.
