The Cold Spring Tavern began as a stagecoach stop in 1886. The physical appearance of the Tavern has been protected by a series of owners and most recently by Adelaide Ovington and her daughter Audrey who purchased the Tavern in 1941. It has been operating as a restaurant/tavern continuously since that date.
Many famous people have been to the Tavern over the years. One movie and several television programs were filmed here. When asked why the fact that many Hollywood stars visited the Tavern was never publicized, Audrey's answer was, "... Honey, .. That's why they come."
Current owners Joy Ovington Wilson and her husband, Wayne have said that they will carry on the traditions of the Tavern and will endeavor to protect the Tavern for the enjoyment of future generations. "It's a tremendous responsibility but we will do our best."
We consider the Tavern to be a very special place. Many employees have been here for over 12 or more years. It is their desire that everyone who makes the effort to come to the Tavern should be treated to a dining experience like they have not enjoyed before. We never change and that goes for the high quality of our food and the excellence of our service.
