Vegetarianism has been associated with heart healthiness for years. Vegetarian diets have been part of the Chinese way of life for some 3,000 years, originally created within the serene Buddhist monasteries of ancient China. Most people became vegetarians for purely religious reasons. Now however, evidence shows that more people are becoming vegetarians for health reasons rather than religious ones. The negative consequences of eating meat include arterial sclerosis, heart disease, high blood pressure, encephalemia, stroke, gall stone, cirrhosis of the liver, and cancer. All of these problems have links to animal fat and cholestrol. (from http;//www.singaporevegetarian.com)
